April 2022

The Credit Cards and Loans App for both iOS and Android was released in Q1 2022

As part of a new digital first approach, 118 118 Money, asked Class35 to deliver a brand new app experience that would provide existing credit cards or loans customers with a more robust self-service offering. The current apps’ technical architecture was restricted meaning it was cumbersome for customers, and did not allow them to see their transactions in a single location. The aim was to design and deliver a new mobile app experience to deliver on the business growth strategy, increase customer engagement and satisfy new PSD2 requirements.

Technical discovery

Together with our fellow development partner Lola Tech, we embarked on a 6 week technical discovery to establish platform feasibility and draft a basic backlog of features. This enabled us to limit any nasty surprises in the integration with third party providers, such as Tysys. Also allowing the design team to stabilise and explore brand expression and brand articulation before design delivery commenced.

Product delivery

Calling on our industry experience, we laid down a scope for what we felt was achievable in the time frame, whilst also demonstrating the art of possible with a backlog of ‘horizon’ features. We sat on the SteerCo and worked in a 2 week sprint cadence to deliver incremental value. As the product matured, we established regular user-testing sessions to validate features. After 6 months, the team delivered a QA ready PSD2 compliant banking grade mobile app with award winning customer experience that would drive self service and in turn decrease call volume handling.
